Cinema - The only Magic show, which I still believe in...

After watching,

  • Minnale / RHTDM , I wanted to be an Engineer, which eventually I have become.
  • Vasool Raja MBBS / Munnabhai , I wanted to be a Doctor, but unable to do so due to the previous point.
  • Fight club, I wanted to get beaten the shit out of me or at-least freak the hell out of my manager.
  • Newsroom, wanted to be a Journalist
  • Breaking Bad, wanted to cook or at-least do Meth!
  • Into the wild, hated the world for what it has become and started to hate my job and screwed up my reputation and career , still continuing to do so... Detailed review here
  • Mounam Pesiyathe, wanted to smoke and more importantly hate love, irrespective of the climax :P
  • Notebook, Lot like love, when Harry met Sally etc, I wanted to fall in love but then it did jeopardize my epiphany from the previous point!

That's the effect of cinema (motion pictures to be on the exact side of the argument) on me.

I am obsessed with cinema. Always have been, always will. I am one of those people who want people to shut up after entering the theater and I’d rather have the whole cinema to myself to be honest.
I haven’t been to the movies for a while( been two weeks), and I miss it. It is the place where we come closest to experiencing the hazy mystery of our dreams in the full light of consciousness and where these lucid dreams of someone else come true.
In that darkened hall sit and wait, momentarily deprived of any kind sensual information and  time seems to hang around suspended. In this moment, before the title card appears ,anything is possible - In a finger-snap  the world is destroyed, a man is murdered or a lady gives birth to a beautiful girl and part of the joy of what follows is discovering which of those have been selected for inclusion, and in which order they have been arranged to show it and how these happen.

It's amazing how cinema captures very vividly those moments that very well go unnoticed in normal life.

Laugh when the character feels happy , cry when the character feels let down irrespective of whether the character laughs or cries, I tend to live the character for a couple of days if it strikes me.
At-times people have despised for giving an Ok to a movie which they disliked to the core - Cant explain but I love movies!
But there are movies which I hated too.. when people see the downside of a movie, I tend to see what else is good in it and for one more time I loved " The Dark Knight Rises".

So here are the top reasons why I'm mad about cinema...

The feeling of Exceeding Expectations -  The way a movie, of which I had expected nothing, turns out to be one of my favorites .

Movies that put you in a mild shock due to their utter perfection

Laughing hysterically at a comedy while being all alone or A movie so well-made, that you feel complete empathy with everything the characters do.

The way some films make me realize that there are people with much bigger problems than me

Finally,

Kate Winslet ! Titanic - the first film I saw on the big screen and fell in love with her! Period.
