Book Review -

Book review...

Ha ha.!! Looking at the topic.. I go back to my school days where a book review would be given as a punishment  for failing in  English exams :)

Now I am punishing myself for the book which I read recently due to all the hype created by media, Narayanamurthy.. yeah right, the same Infy ex-chairman and of course the 1% of all Indians I hate, the people from IIT's and IIM's who think, when their parents prayed for a child, god created them extra smart due to the extra 100 bucks they gave to the priest.

Yes the book is Revolution 2020.You would have already noticed in the Header Pic #justsaying

Spoiler Alert for people who follow Chetan Bhagat on twitter and facebook and thought that this book is an inspiration of that "Mera netha chor hai" episode, I have four words for you "otha no its not"!

Coming seriously to the point, Revolution 2020 and the Plot have no connection whatsoever, I just think this was a marketing strategy to cash in on Anna hazare and the patience personified and dumb(literal meaning and not the slang) Manmohan Singh. Obviously one should have expected this from the author who has an MBA from IIM-A.

The book is simple and even 3rd standard fail like me can have a go at it. Unlike what I expected, fun , Romance and sex  from his previous books, this one is more of a melodrama.

Still there are quite a few Chetan Bhagat specials in this one too.
The characterization of the three main characters is awesome and there is of course a relation to IIT and IIM but in a different form in this book, where he deals with the IIT coaching classes.
The way he describes and goes about Kota is one of the USP's of the book apart from the sex, which turns out to be a false alarm since all the scenes are PG-13.

There is a good but a cinematic plot, since two of his books are made into films I think he has  written this one thinking this will also be eventually be made into a film. Since there are many sequences in the book resembling  Tamil movies, Mostly Rajini movies where, the Hero will become rich and successful after a very low point in his life in just one Song( likes of Padayappa, Annamalai, Baadsha , Veera and the list goes on.....).

The climax is very dramatic and defies some logic but still the book having all these limitations makes you feel for Gopal Mishra and leaves you the feeling which you get when you see a child working in a factory but you are helpless and you want to avoid it.

Other than these, Aarti pradhan, the Girl in contest/context is lovable and I have no more words to say because she isn’t brave and self confident as Ananya Swaminathan, she is just a typical fickle minded girl who sways in the direction of attention.

For those people who thought I would reveal the plot and you can save your 120 bucks(80 bucks in Flipcart after the discount :)) I have two words "Askku buskku". Buy the book and suffer as my room mate did :P

Verdict:
Enjoyable and readable for Chetan Bhagat fans and disposable and dish-washable for voracious readers. By the way I read in an article recently that actress Genelia is a voracious reader. What is she reading? Second standard science book #justasking.
Oh yes, coming to the point, for people expecting quality stuff and also fun, romance and sex, which is also quality stuff , this book can be avoided.
