"En thala pola varuma "
Yes , I am a thala AjithKumar fanatic , Yes I love the cheap thrills of watching Ajith walking in slow motion with a theme song played over and over till you hate the song and Yes I love to see him pelting out punch dialogues one after the other innately aimed at a rival or a politician.
Unfortunately Billa 2 does not offer these cheap thrills to the fans nor does it offer a well written movie for the critics.
**Spoiler Alert** Actually there's not much I can do to spoil this movie more, so you can continue reading..***
Chakri Toleti , the man behind this Epic.
Initially I was very apprehensive about him directing Ajith , as he has just one movie to his credit before this one, "Unnai Pol Oruvan" , which is officially a remake so no credit to him for the writing nor the screenplay. All my apprehensions were proven to be right as this movie is just an amateurish attempt to recreate Vishnuvardhan's Billa magic with no script. This brings us to the question why writers are not given much importance in south Indian films?
The opening credits of the movie was one thing which I loved the most , the montage type sequence with apt editing to tell the story of David Billa from birth to the time frame in which the movie is set in , was awesome. Credit to the cinematographer and the Editor. A similar type of sequence used in a song in the second half , was some thing new and engrossing.
Vidyut Jamwal , the lead antagonist , is another big plus to this movie. He is hand some , his looks are menacing and fits into role perfectly.
The Dialogues and the one liners used in this movie by Ajith are a scream and a treat to fans who were waiting for the opportunity to take off like a animal waiting for its prey.
Apart from these there are no other positives that we can take away from this movie and yes Ajith was brilliant as usual , Since I am an Ajith fan , this might seem biased so not going into those aspects.
Not divulging much about the story , actually there isn't much anyways, I would have been content to see Ajith's in his ever attractive style and charm, walking in slow motion for the theme song throughout the movie , but the master director had included just two scenes of such sort one in the interval block and one at the End!
I have to tell about the heroines , Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruno Abdullah . They neither do have the substance nor the "matter", or at least not in this movie!
Parvathy Omanakuttan , Miss India world reminds me of the Dinosaur in the movie "Jurassic Park". Don't believe me?? Take a close look at this http://purandar.blogspot.in/2012/07/my-contribution-to-sameguy-meme.html
Next big disappointment was Yuvan, I think he's lost it!! Just one song was in the tolerable levels and to Ajith's bad luck that song come's in the End credits. Other's were just classics to a deaf man.
Apart from these there were far too many logical fallacies in the movie like Ajith sporting converse shoes when he is an exile from Srilanka , Ajith's dialect having no smell of Elam when his character is a Srilankan Tamil and him not even having a scar on is face/body after gory fights with blood oozing from his face!!
Bottom line " Thala.... Saachuputanga thala"
Though Billa 2 is not a well made movie , you can give it a try to catch Ajith in action who is at his charming best!
One consolation was that I saw the movie with Surya , Jothika and Vishnuvardhan at Sathyam cinemas and Jothika was as beautiful as ever!! (Not that we went together they were sitting two row's behind ! :P)
Looking forward to Ajith's next with Vishnuvardhan....!
